Coal Creek Commerce Center is proud to be a part of the Rich Family of Companies. The Center was built on a former mine site located in the heart of the anthracite coal region. The mining operation on this site existed uninterrupted for over 100 years, proving it to be the richest deposit of anthracite coal in the country. Through vision and determination, this extensive mining property was reclaimed and redeveloped into a thriving Commerce Center generating hundreds of jobs for the local community. This project began in 2001 with the addition of a Walmart Supercenter, the country’s largest retailer. Other retailers include Home Depot, Tractor Supply Co., and in 2008 a 25,000 square foot strip center was opened. Hundreds of acres of former mine lands adjacent to the Center continue to be reclaimed for future development by Coal Creek’s affiliate, Reading Anthracite Company.
